Uptown United & the 48th Ward invite you to join in this summer for the return of the Argyle Night Market! Started in 2013, the Argyle Night Market is an annual event that features food from local Argyle restaurants plus live cultural and musical performances on Thursday evenings each summer. Part market, part street festival, this vibrant and award-winning event is located on Argyle, the city’s first shared street. This event is hosted by Uptown United and the 48th Ward office, in partnership with the 20th District of the Chicago Police Department.
In addition to the foods and goods that can be found at the night market, a highlight for guests is the live cultural and musical performances being offered weekly. As this is a free event, the goal is to make sure that people from every race and from every socioeconomic background feel welcome at the market. This partnership allows the support of a number of established artists who perform as headliners each night as well as performers from the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community including Japanese taiko drummers, Balinese Gamelan performers, Vietnamese lion dancers, Pacific Islander musicians, and youth circus performers!

5:30PM: Puppet Performance The Puppet Wonder Wagon brings puppets to Chicago public spaces, connecting communities through collective imagination and wonder. 6:00PM – Chicago Balinese Gamelan Comprised of 18 musicians, CBG is a community-centered ensemble that creates high-intensity, exciting, quality performances while introducing and engaging the public with Indonesian culture, music and dance through their performances.. The organization’s vision is to be a recognized international resource for learning and experiencing Balinese performing arts and culture. 7:15PM – Alysha Monique & The Family Divine Alysha Monique and her extraordinary band, The Family Divine, make their Argyle Night Market debut this week with a performance of soul-infused jazz meant to uplift, heal, and move you. |
