Argyle AANHPI Block Party

May 18 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Argyle Street, at the center of Chicago’s Southeast Asian cultural and business district, will play host to a one-day event on Saturday, May 18 to celebrate Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month.

The inaugural “Argyle AANHPI Block Party,” is being organized in partnership with Qideas Plant Shop and HAIBAYÔ. The event will celebrate AANHPI month and the grand re-opening of Qideas Plant Shop, which was recently renovated. Qideas and HAIBAYÔ are collaborating with APIDA Arts and the Aloha Center Chicago for the celebration with additional support from Celebrate Argyle, 13th District State Representative Hoan Huynh’s office, and 48th Ward Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth’s office.

Organizers Ellen Duong, Jennifer Pham, and Hac Tran are excited to bring people together in celebration of the Argyle corridor and the wide array of culturally-focused programming–including cultural performances, live music, youth activities, film screenings, oral history documentation, live art painting, and artisan craft vendors–that exists within the local community.

More details, including a full schedule of events, performances, and participating vendors and cultural organizations will be released closer to the day of the event. Those interested in learning more are encouraged to follow HAIBAYÔ (@hai_bayo) and Qideas (@qideasplantshop) on Instagram for the most up-to-date information.
