In the 49th Ward, the 24th District patrols nine Beats. Each patrol Beat in the Chicago Police Department hosts monthly or bi-monthly community Beat meetings. The primary purpose of the Beat community meetings is to allow Beat residents, other community stakeholders and police to discuss chronic problems on the Beat and to engage in problem-solving. Beat community meetings provide an opportunity for police and community residents to exchange information about conditions in the neighborhood, identify crime and disorder problems and develop strategies to combat those problems. The meeting also provides an opportunity for the police and the community to get to know one another.
