Best Farmers Markets on the Northside of Chicago

Posted July 24, 2024

Basket of Plums at Farmers MarketChicago is a magical place to live most of the year, but when the summer comes around, it feels like the city springs to life. With something going on every weekend, it’s hard to ensure you don’t miss anything! An especially great summer activity in the city is visiting farmers’ markets, filled with local produce and handcrafted gifts, clothes, goods, and more.

If you live on the north side of Chicago, practically every neighborhood will brag about their local farmers market, claiming the top spot because of their favorite vendors. The only true way to find your favorite is to visit them all! Here’s a list of some of the best farmers’ markets on the city’s north side you don’t want to miss.

Logan Square Farmers Market

Sundays, 8:30am – 3pm (2024 season ends October 27)

A farmers market staple, Logan Square has one of the biggest and best markets around. With its location change and massive expansion this year, there is more room than ever to check out some incredible vendors. There are tons of produce and handmade goods, but what has brought the Logan Square Farmers Market to life is the expansion, which includes tons of new and unique vendors this year that you can’t find at any other market.

Not only are there more spots for produce, but you can also buy art and vintage clothing! While we’ll miss the garage-style pop-up sellers from years past, this new and improved spot allows more people than ever to easily attend, shop, and enjoy their Sunday.

Uptown Farmers Market

Wednesdays, May 1 to November 6, 2024, 2:30pm – 7pm (rain or shine)

One of the smaller farmers markets in the city, this is a perfect spot to dedicate your Wednesdays! Running from afternoon to evening every Wednesday in the Sunnyside Mall on Magnolia, this market has the staples plus some rotating fun and unique vendors. If you want to avoid the crowds of some more popular markets, this one is for you. Chicago Market raffles $25 in CHICAGO MARKET BUCKS (sponsored by Becovic!) after every weekly farmers market so stop by the Chicago Market booth, say hi, and fill out the sign up sheet! Winners can use BUCKS at any Uptown Farmers Market vendor, and with produce, baked goods, pasta, dog treats, popcorn, nuts, and live music every week, you will not regret spending a Wednesday in Uptown!

Lincoln Park Farmers Market

Saturdays, April – November, 7am – 1pm | Wednesdays May – October, 7am – 1pm (rain or shine)

Also known as the Green City Market, Lincoln Park’s market is one of the biggest and best in the city. They are open on Wednesdays and Saturdays depending on the month, but even when the weather gets a little colder, the farmers market will provide you with fresh produce and a cool atmosphere to dedicate your time to. They are known for their commitment to sustainable agriculture and offer a carefully selected variety of produce and vendors. Green City Market is calling your name if you want the best of the best in terms of local produce. There is stand after stand of high-quality goods, locally butchered and grass-fed meats, craft cheese, and more. Sometimes you might even get lucky and catch a chef demonstration or other educational programs they offer as entertainment and knowledge sharing in the community as you shop.

Their website says Green City Market “envisions a future where sustainable farmers are thriving. In this future, everyone — in our community and across the nation — knows who grows their food, how it’s grown, and why this knowledge matters. We imagine a future where all neighbors — regardless of zip code or income level — have access to locally-grown, sustainably-produced food”.

Glenwood Sunday Market
