Family Matters’ Walk -a-Thon raises funds to support:
- The Family Matters School, a specialized Pre-K through 3rd grade school designed for children who thrive outside of a traditional classroom
- Partners in Learning, a tutor/mentoring program
- Project RISE, a teen job skills training and leadership development initiative
- Community Engagement, an initiative which brings the community together to work on various projects
The walk registration will begin at 10 am on Saturday, October 5th at Family Matters with the actual walk beginning at 11 am.
At 12:30 pm, Family Matters is partnering with Tapestry 360, Endeavor Health: Swedish Hospital, and Jason’s Foods for the community picnic/block party portion of the event. There will be food, carnival games, health screenings, and music.
- 10:00 AM: Registration begins at Family Matters. A light breakfast will be available.
- 10:30 AM: Zumba warm-up session.
- 10:50 AM: Group photo and ringing of the bell.
- 11:00 AM: Walk send-off.
- 12:30 PM: Community picnic and health fair with grilled items and a variety of side dishes provided by local restaurants, live music, and activities and games for the whole family.
Water will be available during the event. Participants are encouraged to bring reusable bottles.
Interactive health education activities will be coordinated by community partners Tapestry 360 Health and Endeavor Swedish Hospital.
